I'm Back

I didn't post in a while.
But that doesn't mean I haven't been working on my blanket.
I am nearly finished, in fact I have finished all the little round middle bits.
We had a nice weekend.

Saturday evening we went to Zwolle for a birthday party, and Sunday afternoon we were in Arnhem for a birthday party.
Sunday in the car I manage to crochet quite a few little round middle bits, and later that evening when we got home I finished all the remaining rounds I need.
So for the next couple of days (and also this evening) I will be joining them.
Then I will just need to finish the edging.

Coming Along Nicely

So the blanket is coming along nicely.
I am so surprised by how quite it is going.
I've even been busy with a few ideas for my next one.
I'll keep you posted about that after this one is finished of course.

Sunshine & Flowers

Look at my Mum's plant now!!!!
This plant grows alongside our bedroom window.
This tree is at the back of our garden, we call it the cats tree because they love to get in it and look into the neighbours gardens.

This Plant is so heavy with flowers, and it is tuck away behind other plants that need to be trimmed.

At Last A NEW Photo

On Tuesday I said that I would post a new photo on Wednesday.
Well I didn't get around to doing it, but I have been busy both in doing stuff in and around the house and of course joining and stuff in between.
I decided to try out a few ideas I'd had for the edging of this blanket.
Well a couple didn't turn out like I wanted so I've come up with this colourful idea.
Both sides of the blanket will have this rainbow edging the top is beige and de bottom (when I get that far lol) will be cream.
That way I will be using all the colours that I am using for the blanket in the edging.

What I joined Yesterday

Like I promised yesterday new photos of the blanket.
I didn't get around to joining as many as I had hoped yesterday.
But still you can see a bit of a difference.
More tomorrow!!!

Our Sunday

Yesterday we went to visit family in Apeldoorn.
Well, I discovered something while we were driving there.
That is that I am perfectly able to crochet in the car, because I am not the driver and am always being driven.
It was a great day, we didn't eat before leaving so we stopped off for bunch at McDonald's.
We had a "Big Tasty" and it was really tasty, I love McDonalds.
I often hear that you love McDonald's or you hate it.
Well I love it.
I hear the same thing about Ikea to, and I love Ikea.
Well like I said it was a great day, we did some catching up with the family there and had a lovely Chinese meal together.
So I now have a pile of middles waiting to be joined onto the blanket.
So today in between doing stuff here in the house I will be joining.
I can't wait to see what the blanket looks like after joining all these, because I will be over half way then.
More photo's tomorrow!!!!

Blanket up-date

I took this photo this morning, I think it's looking GOOD!!!!
I now have piles of middles that I made today all ready and waiting to be joined.

Curly Scarf 2

I posted a post the other day about my first curly scarf.
Well I realized that I had done it wrong.
So I started making another one from a ball of yarn I had.
It went really quick so I run out of yarn, but I ordered another ball so I can finish it now.
But I will make another one from the yarn I used for the first one and do it right this time.

Piles of colour

I love making these little piles of middles for the blanket, they just make me smile.
Only the colour in the middle looks blue on this photo but it's grey and the one next to it that looks grey, is beige.

Cats & Crochet they just go together

Today while I was working on my blanket both cats came along to check what I was doing and lay down.

Curly Scarf

For a while now I have been looking at the wonderful Curly Scarfs that you can crochet.
Well, yesterday evening I started making one, it is so easy.

Update Blanket

Here a photo of my blanket so far.

For my Mum

Today it is eight years ago that my Mum died.
The year before Mum died she was here in Holland staying with us, because my oldest daughter, my Mum's oldest grandchild, was getting married.
Mum had planned to stay here for a couple of weeks, but she was taken ill while here and ended up staying longer.
She enjoyed looking at the plant (see photo) while drinking her tea in bed.
The flowers were all open at that time, they seem to be a bit later this year.
I now always call this plant Mums plant.

17-05-2010
I added the top photo to this post today, taken this morning, because the first flower is open, isn't it just lovely.

New Blanket, so far so GOOD

I love the colours on this blanket so far, and there are still more to come.
Because the hexagons are just two colours it seems to be crocheting up fast.
You can just crochet a couple of round middle bits in between doing other stuff.
I hope to be able to do quite a bit today.

Mothersday

It's Mothersday today here in Holland and look what I've got, and I'm getting.
My oldest daughter bought me this book and make-up box.
I love them!!!!!
And get this.
I've ordered this book which I've seen on alot of other crochet blogs.
Everyone speaks highly of it.
And my oldest son is buying it for me for mothersday.
Hopefully it will be here this week I can't wait

Saturday 8 May 2010

And now on to the next blanket

I really loved crocheting my hexagon blanket.
So much so that I am doing another one.
I have all these lovely colours that I want to use up, and lots of beige and cream.
It will not be hexagon shaped this time, just long and wide, and cream with coloured centres.

Friday 7 May 2010

This is IT!!!!! It's FINISHED!!!!!!!

So it's finished!!!!
I finished it this evening and I'm really pleased with it.
I must say I love the edging.
Our cat Jerry seems to like it too.

25 Left to Join

I haven't been doing much work on my blanket the last couple of days.
I joined a few yesterday evening.
We went to Ikea on Tuesday Just bought a few small things.
I love going to Ikea.
I will be joining some more today because I only have 25 rounds left to join now, and then the edging.
I'm going to do a simple Picot Edging Border in beige.

Sunday 2 May 2010

Oh Happy Day(s)

This weekend my daughter, son-in-law and the three granddaughters were here for a visit.
My two sons came too.
One son arrived on Saturday, the others all came on Friday.
It was Queensday here in Holland on Friday.
So all the crocheting I got time to do over the weekend was trying out a couple of things for my new blanket.
I didn't work on the other blanket while they were all here because like I said in earlier posts it is getting big.
Anyway yesterday we went to a shop here in the town where we live.
The shop is called "Action" and they have some great stuff.
But what usely happens is that they get stuff and once it's all gone it gone.
So if you see stuff you like it is best to buy it because if you go back it could all be gone.
And it is soooooooooooo CHEAP!!!!
Well look what I got (see photo).
Loads of balls of yarn for just 94 cents a ball and they are 100 gram balls.
The yarn I'm working with now cost a euro per ball and they are 50 gram balls.
And I thought that was cheap.
It's just 100 per cent acrylic yarn, but the one I'm working with now is too.
I love it!!!!!!!

My Blanket Once Again

I took this photo before leaving for work today.
I did a lot of joining on Thursday, and this evening I will have time to join quite a few more.
The blanket is getting so big now that I had to lay it over the bed to take a good photo of it.
