ROWS
Just two rows to go now, but will I have enough of the cream yarn to finish it????
Yesterday evening I found a couple of odd small balls and some bits, so I think it will be enough.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be.
The way this is going I think it will be finished this weekend, I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

So Far So Good!!!

So far so good!
The blanket is coming along nicely I must say.
I've finished the 8th row now!!!
In an earlier post I said that I had finished all the middle bits of the flowers, well, now I've gone around them all with the cream yarn so that they are all ready to be joined.
Here they all are bagged up in rows ready to be joined.
Now I'm just hoping I'll have enough of the cream yarn to finish the blanket.
I just want to use up all of the cream colour I've already got before buying new.
I'd love to be able to make this blanket from yarn I already have, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will have enough.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!!!

Growing!!!!!!

Six Rows!!

Seven Rows!!
Because this blanket is going to be 13 rows altogether this was the halfway point at six and a half rows,Working on row eight now, that's the start of it in the bag. After I'm finished with that one I just have five more bags of middles to go. I recieved these lovely flowers yesterday, don't they look great in my Ikea Jug!!!

Japanese Flower Love

For the last couple of days I've been working on the middle bits of my flowers for my japanese flower blanket.
And as of yesterday they are all finished.

Here they are all bagged up per row.

I then start doing the third round of a whole row of middles before joining.
I'm joining the sixth row now and it's nearly finished.
I will take some new photo's of the whole blanket on Friday I think.

Now, what is this bag of goodies you may well ask. well, it is going to be my next project. Yes I know I haven't finished this one yet and I'm already thinking and working towards the next one. What is it going to be? I will share that in a later post, but one thing is this, it will be japanese flowers again because I love making them.

The Story Behind My Flower Blanket

I thought I'd share with you the story behind my flower blanket.
I am making this blanket out of yarn that I already have.
What I have done is to take apart another blanket I made last year, this one. Now, the reason why I'm taking it apart is this.
When I started making it last year I ordered the yarn online, but it turned out that I didn't have enough to finish the blanket, so I ordered more.
But the beige and light pinky colours turned out to be a couple of shades darker than the one I'd been using.
So, lesson number 1. "When ordering yarn for a project like this always order enough to finish it."
Now, I went on to finish the blanket anyway, the idea was to use the blanket on our sofa-bed when visitors come to stay the night, and that is what I used it for.
However, although no one ever noticed the difference in colour (at least they didn"t say anything) I could always see it myself so I did think about taking it apart one day.
So that is what I have done/I'm doing, I'm taking it apart and I'm using the beige, cream, and some of the light pinky colour yarn for this new blanket, making sure that the beige I use for this one is all the same shade.
And the other colours are odd bits left over from a rainbow blanket I made last year.
So I am really pleased, not only with the way it is turning out, but also because I am using up the yarn I already have.
The pattern/layout I am using for the flower blanket is the same as my second hexagon blanket here.
But I also plan to make a new hexagon shaped blanket for the sofa-bed, but then using the flower pattern instead of the hexagons.

Flower Power!!!

Here are some new photos of my flower blanket, taken this morning.

I have joined five rows now.

The pattern I am using for this blanket means it will be 15 flowers long and 13 flowers wide.
I'm not sure if I will make it bigger or not yet, that depends on how much yarn I have.
I'm using up yarn that I already have.
I know there will be enough to finish the pattern, but then I'll have to see just how much is left, and if I can do more rows.
It would be great to be able to finish it without having to buy new yarn.

Have a great weekend!!!

A Year of Getting Hooked (again)

On March 3rd 2010 I started this blog.
I'd decided to start crocheting again after years of not having done so, and I wanted to keep track of what I was doing, so a blog seem like a good idea.
And here we are a year later, March 3rd 2011.
And I must say it's been a year in which I have learned a lot.
I learned loads about crocheting, new patterns, and playing with colours.
I have been inspired by many people in blog land, not only on the crochet front, but also by the little everyday life things that people share on their blogs.
At first I thought about giving the people who have inspired me the most a mention here in this post.
But there have been so many and I don't want to forget anyone.
So it is easier to say that they are all on my blogs I love list.
And I've learned loads about blogging and taking photos too.
I'd like to thank everyone for the inspiration it's been a great year!!!!!
A year in which I've truly gotten hooked again!!!
I just had to add this photo of the two new colours that I joined to my flower blanket yesterday.

My Flower Blanket

My flower blanket is taking shape nicely.
So I took quite a few photos.
I'm really enjoying working on this project.
I joined some new colours today too that are not on these photos.
A nice light green and a light orange.
